Well, I'm in the process of packing everything up yet again. I've decided I don't like packing for school (or for coming home for that matter). Because inevitably, everything gets all messy with crap strewn about the house and boxes all over the place. On top of that, I always wind up sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time because I just don't want to pack. Like today. I woke up, pulled some books to take with me off my shelf and then promptly began procrastinating by calling people up and talking. Thankfully Andrew said "Aren't you supposed to be packing??? You should go do that now." heh.

I then proceeded to use The Project Runway Season 2 marathon, chocolate chip cookies, The Sims, and Ina Garten to help me avoid any actual packing.

To be fair though, I did wash all the clothes I'm planning on taking with me (as well as all my sheets and towels and stuff) AND I went and pulled all the stuff that was still in my boxes from when I came back home out of the boxes and sorted what I wanted to take back out. So really, it isn't going to be too much work after that.

What else...not much, really. Andrew and I went to the mall which was INSANELY dull. Thank God I have shopping in Georgetown, Bethesda, and Friendship Heights to look forward to. (the andrew part was fun, lol, and I'm very happy there's no awkwardness between us.)

I need to be fully packed by tomorrow night, when we will put everything in the car so we can leave wednesday night. I'll be moving in on thursday.

I'm crazy excited and a lil sad and nervous.

After all, it covers 3 of the 4 things he mentioned - college and alcohol for the obvious reason, and the gay thing because, I dunno...I always figured cocktails were kind of a gay sort of thing anyway.

I threw my summer reading list out the window, and have been fully absorbed by Amelia Peabody once again. I didn't have a single problem (except for the part where I almost ran into a rock, but that was dad's fault anyway). I even parked in a parking lot with cars in it and everything. wewt.

oh, and Sylvia (my computer) is frustrating me more and more every passing day. I've also been watching Scrubs as often as possible (I LOVE THIS SHOW!) and it's making me very happy.

ALSO I've started a Ravenclaw scarf - simply because I like the design and color combos. Great fun.

I don't think there's anything else...

(AKA Luke)</strike>
<strike>
</strike>Ok well, as HP just came out etc, I felt I ought to update my summer reading list. I've just started on I, Elizabeth. I may read The Life of Elizabeth I simultaneously (for those who don't know, the former is a fictitious autobiography of Elizabeth Tudor, while the latter is non-fictional).

Andrew and I went to see Hairspray with a couple of his friends on saturday. I enjoyed the movie (though I was not thrilled with Travolta. I loved queen latifa, though. I dunno why - but any time she came on screen I got excited - something for which Andrew promtly made fun of me).

What I really enjoyed about the movie outing (aside from the fact that the whole evening, which consisted of dinner before the movie was an excellent date) was that one of the trailers was for Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

Some of you may know that Queen Elizabeth has always been one of my favorite historical figures - in fact it was while reading about her that I realized I had enough of a passion for history that I could consider it vocationally. She and the period in which she ruled remain my most favorite historical subjects. (I dunno why I sounded so formal there, haha). As a result, the movie Elizabeth, staring Cate Blanchette, has been one of my favorite movies for a long time (for one thing, while it was certainly romanticized and touched by hollywood, it was actually quite surprisingly historically accurate, not to mention the acting was fantastic). SO when I found out that the director and core cast were going to be making a second installment (which would cover the Armada and the Mary Queen of Scotts situation) I got rather excited.

So there I was on saturday, where I finally got a first look at it. And it looks FANTASTIC.

Anyway, I wish to make it through Henry's VI wives before bed - so I should get back to reading. (I just realized that sounds mildly dirty...m'oh well).

Vanessa had the pleasure of meeting said young chap and they both like each other a lot. whoop!

In other news, Harry Potter.

So the movie. Vanessa, Ellen, Margaret, and I had a lil party and went to see it at midnight on tuesday. I loved it. I dunno why...I just did. I thought it was a great movie while also capturing the essence of the book (even though it left various plot points out). Additionally, I flet the trio's acting improved markedly, and Umbridge was fantastic. The music and effects were, by far, the best in the series - and the cinematography and editing were top-notch. wheee!

I'm very much looking forward to the 7th book, of course. I think I've decided I'll read it slowly - I rushed reading HBP and wound up not remembering half the plot 3 days later...so I'd rather take my time and savor every page pretty much.

I'm currently plowing through Chamber of Secrets in my effort to re-read everything by next saturday. I'll be fine, of course. I just need to stop getting distracted by pointless things which I deem vital in the moment (for example, this afternoon where I was reading and then decided I needed to draw myself a lil map of the Hogwarts grounds...which took an hour. why did I do that!?).

anywho, that's it I suppose.

So ya know.

Working at Target is not nearly as glamourous as one might hope. </understatment>

hmmm what else...

I'm loving Interview With the Vampire. The writing isn't really all that spectacular - BUT - the story's excellent. I like it muchly.

In other news, I have rediscovered my love of French, and so have decided to drop one of the elective history classes (yes - as a history major I'm dorky enough to have ELECTIVE history classes, lol) and add Advanced French (wouldn't it be kickass if Esther and I were in the same class???). But I'm very excited for that. It also means I'm going to need to rethink Berlin in the spring - maybe I'll want to do the Paris semester instead (which might make more sense anyway...as Paris is a lot closer to my area of study than Berlin is - despite the whole...Reformationhappenedingermany thing. Idunno. I need to figure it out by mid-september, though. as the forms are due by mid october.

Esther's going to live at the other end of the floor above me in Anderson next year. That's going to be SO COOL. I love Esther!!

umm...I keep running into Tayloire at the mall/target!?

Ok so, true story. Today I was like "hmmmmm...what should I do this evening. OH CRAP it's Lexi's grad party!!!" so I go out to dinner with my dad, do a lil shopping, and then I'm like "ah time to go to lexi's so I can show up late, blah blah blah." we drive up. Oh. the driveway's empty. why? OH THAT'S RIGHT. the party's NEXT weekend. who feels stupid in this situation? me.

hmmmm. yey for American Eagle polo shirts being on sale.
and in the same vein...yey for debit cards.
oh, and make that "yey for AE polo shirts that look amazing on matthew being on sale"

Tomorrow I'm going to FINALLY get myself to an Episcopal church. You have no idea. I've been going into high church withdrawl. (for those that don't know, 'high church' means a service which uses a lot of ceremony, like processing, bowing, crossing yourself, etc). I'm looking forward to it very much.
It'll also be my first time going to a new church on my own (poppa, rhona, and clifton will be at Immanuel down the street).

and lastly - I get to see Andrew tomorrow!!!
It's very exciting because, with him being at camp where they don't have the computers set up yet, during the week, I hadn't heard from him since last sunday. And with this weekend being Shroeder's graduation, I was afraid I'd not only not be able to see him while he's home, but that I wouldn't be able to talk to him either.

Thankfully, both proved very false, and we're going to watch either The Princess Diaries or Love, Actually tomorrow night. maybe even BOTH. lol.

anywho, there's your dose of matt's life for a while.

enjoy.
